I’m Lucy, an artist and a photographer based in Macclesfield. I grew up by the sea in the south of England and knew I wanted to be an artist from a very young age. I studied Fine Art, spent a decade or two figuring things out (still doing that), and somewhere along the way landed on my own version of an art career.
My work has been exhibited at The Lowry, The Manchester Contemporary, The Hastings Contemporary, HOME Manchester, and Open Eye Gallery Liverpool, and published in The Guardian, Vogue, and New Scientist. I've done artist residencies in Iceland, Spain, Cornwall, and Scotland.
I make curious little prints that I love, inspired by nature, the human form, and my love of surrealism using alternative photographic processes. I prefer hand printing and hand making everything, and the original prints you will find here are mainly cyanotype printing and painting on top of my photographs.
I also take on a small number of portrait photography commissions each year, and lecture on a photography module at Salford University.
If you value things that are made with care, curiosity, and no lengthy descriptions about what the artwork is supposed to mean, then we would probably get along well.
