This is a reproduction print of an original cyanotype.

This image brings together a photograph of model Kit and a delicate paper moon, placed ontop of the negative as a layered collage in the printing process.

Questions

Good to know

How long will my order take?

Prints are made to order, so they are not sitting in a box waiting. Most orders leave the studio within 3 working days, then it is Royal Mail Tracked 48 from there.

What paper do you print on?

100% recycled, archival fine art paper with pigment inks, so the colours hold rather than fading out after a few years in daylight.

Do prints come framed?

No — prints are supplied unframed and unmounted, so you can choose a frame that suits your wall and postage stays reasonable. The mini prints in hanging brass frames are the exception; those arrive ready to hang.

What size should I choose?

The size guide further up this page draws every size to scale next to the others. A4 suits a shelf or a small gallery wall; A2 is the one that holds a room on its own.

What is a cyanotype?

One of the oldest photographic processes — paper coated with a light-sensitive solution and exposed under UV, which is to say under the sun. It is what gives the work its blue. Each one is exposed by hand, so no two are quite identical.

Are the originals one of a kind?

Yes. The original cyanotypes and the hand-painted Half Girl pieces are single works — once one sells it is gone. The reproduction prints are made from those originals.

What does a variable edition mean?

It means each print in the edition is made by hand rather than machine, so tone and shadow vary slightly from one to the next. Every piece is signed and numbered, and no two are quite the same.

Meet the artist

Hi, I'm Lucy

I'm an artist and photographer based in Macclesfield. I grew up by the sea in the south of England and knew I wanted to be an artist from a very young age.

I make curious little prints that I love, using alternative photographic processes — inspired by nature, the human form, and my love of surrealism. I hand print and hand make everything.
